American Bar Association Recognizes Founder Natasha Nazareth with 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award

Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement Award Presented at Spring Conference in Omaha in Recognition of Her Consistently Achieving Distinction in An Exemplary Way

ROCKVILLE, MD (May 20, 2024) – The American Bar Association has named Natasha Nazareth, founder of Nazareth Bonifacino Law, the 2024 recipient of its prestigious Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented to Ms. Nazareth at the American Bar Association’s GPSolo, Law Practice Division and Young Lawyers Division Joint Spring Conference in Omaha.

The Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement award pays tribute to the lifetime accomplishments of a solo or small firm practitioner who is widely respected by peers for consistently demonstrating excellence and distinction in their field. Recipients are seen by fellow solo and small firm practitioners as embodying the values and standards of the legal profession and their respective practice areas.

Ms. Nazareth is the co-founder of Nazareth Bonifacino Law, a women-owned family-focused law firm that is also the first certified Benefit Corp law firm in Maryland and the 25th in the US and Canada. As a certified Benefit Corporation, the firm advances a more just, equitable, and regenerative economy so that all may thrive. The firm focuses on purpose-driven businesses and underserved entrepreneurs, including BIPOC, immigrant, women, and service-disabled veteran business owners, who often cannot access and afford the sophisticated legal services they need to succeed in the critical, first five years of their business. Under Ms. Nazareth’s leadership, the firm has implemented procedures and policies leveraging technology to provide high-quality legal services at a more affordable price point.

She has 26 years of experience as a practicing attorney and has established herself as a preeminent authority in business, employment, and education law. Her expertise and passion for her work have earned her the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Nazareth represented children with disabilities with Legal Aid of North Carolina. Ms. Nazareth has also served as general counsel to the Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, and was an adjunct law professor at North Carolina Central University School of Law.

Ms. Nazareth is also dedicated to the welfare of her community, the administration of justice, and the objectives of the state bar. She is an active leader in law associations and received a 2023 “Women Making History” award from the Montgomery County (MD) Commission for Women. Ms. Nazareth is a fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation and a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, where she serves on the Board of Governors Executive Committee and Vice-Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee. She is also a member of the Judicial Nominations Committee of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Maryland.

Ms. Nazareth earned a bachelor’s degree double majoring in German and Comparative Area Studies from Duke University and a juris doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law. She graduated high school from Trinity Preparatory School in Orlando, Fla.
